The Class Project

The importance of responsibility in school

Dana was excited when her teacher, Mrs. Salma announced the class project. Each student was put in charge of a different part of the presentation, and dana was assigned to bring in a poster. It was a big responsibility, but she felt proud that Mrs. Salma trusted her.

At first, dana was excited to work on the poster, but as the week went on, she got distracted. She played outside with her friends after school and watched her favourite TV shows in the evening. Every night, her mom would remind her “don’t forget about your project”. Dana always said “I’ll do it tomorrow”.

Finally, the night before the presentation, Dana realized she hadn’t even started! Her heart began to race. She sat down at her table with her markers and paper, but she was so tired that she made a lot of mistakes. The poster didn’t look how she wanted it to look.

The next day at school, dana handed in her poster feeling nervous. When it was time to present, her classmates had done their parts perfectly, but when it was her turn to show the poster, everyone noticed smudges and uneven lines.

After class, Mrs. Salma spoke to Dana “I know you can do better, Dana. Being responsible means keeping track of what you need to do and making sure you do your best”.

Dana felt disappointed in herself, but learned a lesson. She promised herself that next time she would manage her time better and finish her work before the last minute. The next project, Dana was ready ahead of time and her new poster was the best it could be! Mrs. Salma gave her a big smile.

Dana realized that being responsible wasn’t just about doing the work, it was about doing it well and on time. From then on. She took her responsibilities seriously knowing that it made her feel proud and prepared.

The homework: A story about Responsibility

Written by:

September 2024

One day, my best friend Shaikha told me let’s play Roblox after school straight away. I told her that I can’t because we have a very important homework assignment. It was due the next day. My friend didn’t listen and kept asking me to play with her. I told her to do her homework first and then we can play. She didn’t listen and she went to play with her sister.

I worked on my homework until a finished it all. The next day in school, the teacher asked about the homework. I gave it to her but Shaikha didn’t. She looked worried and sad.

The teacher gave me and all the girls that finished their homework TEN EXTRA POINTS on ClassDojo!!!! But for Shaikha and all the girls that didn’t finish their homework, she removed a WHOLE TEN POINTS !!! Because of the extra points I got, the teacher said I was one of the winners for the field trip she planned for the best students. The girls that lost the points were punished. They had to copy the lesson five times!

This story helps us learn that we have to be RESPONSIBLE. We must do our important work BEFORE we have fun. Working hard first means we’ll be rewarded in the end.
